Organization Grants

The Brain Injury Alliance Dr. Gur Singh Memorial Education Fund is intended to fund educational and job training projects for those with a confirmed acquired brain injury.

Maximum grant allowance: $5000

Who Can Apply

Associations/Societies that provide services to people with acquired brain injuries including:

    • Must be a non-profit society in BC that provide services to people with acquired brain injuries.
    • Must be a Canadian Registered Charitable Organization according to the federal income tax act.

Eligibility:

Eligible for Funding:

  • Emphasis on programs to improve employment opportunity, including conferences.
  • Group Services for Clients.
    Examples could include, but are not limited to:
    • Training: First Aid, Food Safe, etc.
    • Workshops: resume building, communication skills, job strategies, etc.
    • Peer led job support and training.
  • Job Training, Upgrading, or Further Education.
    Examples could include, but are not limited to:
    • Bookkeeping & financial literacy programs that directly relate to community-based employment in administration or bookkeeping​.
    • Traffic control (flagging) certification, increasing participants’ employability in road work and construction.
    • GED & adult basic education support/tutoring.
    • Intro to computers & technology use for job readiness and independence.
  • Direct Program Costs (for eligible programs)
    • Administration Costs (10% of budget)
    • Wages
    • Facility Costs

Ineligible for Funding

  • Religious and Political Purposes
  • Out of Province Travel
  • Capital Expenses
  • Subsidizing Fee for Service Programs
  • Fundraising Costs
  • Debt Reduction Costs
  • Research

You will receive a confirmation email from us when we receive your application.

NOTE: Persons with a brain injury can not apply on their own for a Dr. Gur Singh Grant. Please contact an association/society that provides services to people with acquired brain injuries, who will apply for a grant on your behalf if you qualify. If you are not aware of services near you, please let us know where you are located, and we will inform you of whom to contact in your area.

Reporting

Final reports are due July 15 of the following year.

Reporting period: July 1 – June 30.
